COMPETITION PROJECT
Fabricated from stainless steel and manufactured in Switzerland, the bottom of the spire begins 20m from the cathedral floor and rises a further 50 m into the sky. It is connected to the existing building via a slender steel structure whilst piercing a 6m x 6m glass roof. Light now floods the central section of the cathedral and the eye is drawn up from the bottom tip to the top of the new spire in true cathedral building tradition. RIBA Award Winner.
